Process
I am also working towards new design techniques that are more accessible. In the past I designed using table and am now working on CSS-based layouts.
I test my sites in multiple web browsers. I also monitor the web statistics generated by traffic to the site to validate which browsers are important to consider. Based on my visitor profiles, I am reducing my focus on old versions of certain browsers. While I will verify that the page is at least viewable in previous browser versions, there is no longer a need to make old browsers pixel-perfect. The statistics show that the additional effort cost is not justified. This site views properly on a PC in Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5 and 6, and Mozilla FireFox.
